About Pro-tec
Pro-Tec created the first skateboard helmet in 1973 and has been protecting skaters ever since. Founded in San Diego, California, they literally invented the category of skateboard protective gear. When Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, and Lance Mountain needed protection that could handle vert skating, they turned to Pro-Tec. The brand's classic bowl-style helmet became the template that every other company copied.
Pro-Tec helmets and pads are built for real skating, not just looking the part. Their skateboard helmets use multi-impact foam that bounces back after slams, while their knee pads and elbow pads feature the thick, durable construction that bowls and street spots demand. From beginner skaters learning to drop in to pros charging 12-foot vert, Pro-Tec protection handles the abuse. The brand also makes snowboard helmets and snowboard protection that bring the same no-nonsense approach to the mountain.
