About Burton
Burton built snowboarding from the ground up. Jake Burton Carpenter founded the company in 1977 in Burlington, Vermont, transforming what started as a backyard hobby into a legitimate sport. Burton didn't just make the first snowboards - they fought for acceptance at ski resorts and created the infrastructure that allowed snowboarding to explode globally. Today, Burton snowboards, snowboard bindings, and snowboard boots set the standard for performance and innovation.
Burton operates from their Craig's Prototype Facility in Vermont, where they develop everything from kids' snowboards to professional-level snowboard bindings. Their team includes some of the most influential riders in the sport's history. Burton became the first snowboard company to achieve B Corporation certification, proving their commitment to sustainability matches their dedication to performance. Whether you need snowboard boots that fit perfectly or snowboard jackets built for the mountain, Burton delivers products tested by riders who helped define snowboarding itself.
